WHAT WILL IT COST?

 All businesses are different, even within the same industry sector, and some have common hazards, while others have hazards unique to that particular industry.  Therefore, it is difficult to estimate how long it might take to ensure a company is both managing and working safely.

 Happily, some of our clients require us only to point them in the right direction and to be available to give them advice from time to time.  Other clients, without any in-house competence in health and safety, need more time before they start to ‘own’ their own health and safety systems.  Achieving safety ‘change’ in business is sometimes better for all concerned to be approached gradually, allowing changes to be planned and implemented, as both the company changes and new legislation require new risk assessments.

 Until we know how much we have to do to assist an organisation until it is managing and working safely, it would be difficult to suggest a minimum or maximum number of consultant’s hours that will be required for either on-site or off-site work.

 Therefore, all we can indicate is that our consultancy time is charged out @ £62.00 per hour inclusive of reasonable local travel, phone calls, stationery, etc.  HSE required notices, signage, forms, etc. are charged at cost.  Any specialists recommended by us, are done so on the basis of competence, availability, and reasonable cost and not by commission!

 We usually find that we tend to be on-site for no more than ½ a day at a time and off-site work tends to follow the same pattern and we invoice accordingly.  As a small business where cash flow keeps our costs down, we seek to invoice monthly and our settlement terms are 14 days.

FINALLY

Surely it makes good sense to approach health and safety as a good business objective, not just because of your concern for your fellow employees and those who might be affected by your activities; but because health and safety are vital factors in corporate profitability and success.

There are no really successful organisations who do not manage or work safely.
